In the ’Shift’ and ’Overlay’ series, multiple layers are added throughout the period of making, allowing unexpected structural combinations to cohere over extended time periods into unique works. They engage with optical and spatial disorientation, echoing and revitalising elements explored in earlier work. Aspects of light, focus, exposure and filtration are transposed to the drawn and painted surface, with a particular focus on time and duration in the process of making. They extend in size and complexity the layering and colour begun in the Imagined Legacy series (2015/16).
